Welcome to THUnion! From now on you are a member of us! This article will tell you everything you need to know to happily play in THUnion.

Join Procedure

Set Group Nickname

Choose a Department ID that is easy to pronounce and unique (one that hasn't been taken by other members). Update your group nickname so your Department ID is easily recognizable. You are free to customize the rest of your nickname, but including your Minecraft ID is highly recommended. While this isn't strictly mandatory for the whitelist, it helps other members identify who you are.

Register ID

Locate the bot "(假)部娘 [遇事不决私戳#help]" in the group member list. Add her as a friend and send the following commands via DM:

• #setID <id>
  • Registers your Department ID. This determines how the bot identifies you in the group-to-server message forwarding system;
  • Some members rely entirely on forwarded messages to keep up with group chats while in-game. If your Department ID is missing, your messages won't be forwarded, which breaks the conversation flow for others. Therefore, even if you don't plan to play on the server frequently, please set your Department ID properly.
• #setMCID <mcid>
  • Registers your Minecraft ID. Since the main server is whitelisted, you must use this command to gain access.
  • It is normal to see a "username does not exist" prompt when setting this for the first time.

After registration, you can use #info to verify your information.

Playing on the Main Server

The main server runs on Java Edition 1.21. While you can join using a vanilla client, we recommend adding certain mods to significantly improve your experience. Pre-configured modpacks shared by other members can be found in the main group's files.

If you are unfamiliar with recent updates, we suggest checking the Java Edition guides to see what's new.

Server Seed

The server seed is public: -6885878063362448068. You can use this to locate specific structures or features.

Note: In areas within ±6,000 blocks on the X and Z axes, contents introduced in the 1.21 update (such as Trial Chambers and wolf variants) will not generate.

Server Rules

    Main article: Department Rule, Specific Provisions: Main Server Operation Rules

Key rules for the main server include:

• Gamerules:
  • doFireTick：true;
  • keepInventory：false;
  • mobGriefing：true;
  • playersSleepingPercentage：10.
• No cheating allowed;
• No PvP allowed, unless explicitly agreed upon by both parties;
• The Three-Chunk Rule:
  • New builds must be at least three chunks away from existing structures, unless you have permission from the original builder;
  • Specific regions may have additional local rules.
• Exploration is restricted to areas within ±8,000 blocks on the X and Z axes.
  • Generally, it is also forbidden to approach areas designated for mob switches.

Server Datapack

Datapacks are enabled on the main server to give some resources a better way to obtain. See the relevant article to know more.

First Time in the Server

You will spawn below one of the iconic buildings of THUnion—Tsinghua Second Gate. Below is the Worldspawn perimeter which is created to reduce the lagging.

To obtain essential survival supplies, please head north along the deepslate road to the All-items Storage (or travel via the Nether Hub). Food, firework rockets, totems of undying, and other items are available for free here. You can also find elytra and full sets of diamond equipment and tools. (Practice thriftiness. Entering !!stats rank used firework_rocket will show a certain player's overwhelming lead in rocket usage—don't follow his lead!)

Here are some things you might want to do:

• "To do good work, one must first sharpen one's tools." Looking for equipment with enchantments different from the All-Items standard? The Nether portal at (20, -190) leads to the Ender Cat Supermarket (Cat-Mart). A villager trading center is established here, selling complete diamond armor sets and tools. Take the emeralds stored in the chests and buy all the gear and enchanted books you need—don't worry, emeralds are worthless here. Afterward, head through the Nether to the portal at (-210, -6) to reach the Xiaoxitian XP Duper for unlimited experience, then use the grindstones and anvils on your new gear!
• Want to visit the main city? Enter the Nether portal at (-20, 80) to reach the Liuhuo Industrial Zone in Acacia City. Numerous small-scale machines can satisfy your needs for common materials like wood and stone. Follow the highway west across Bridge No. 2 to enter the core residential area of Acacia City; the beautiful scenery here is sure to make you linger. (There are also easter eggs at Overworld coordinates (-415, 640), (-240, 430), and more!)
• Joy is best when shared. All settlements look forward to new players joining. If you are looking for a settlement to join or haven't decided where to settle yet, feel free to ask in the group.
• We need more pioneers and builders! The Higure, Winterhold, Yunling, and Badlands City regions are scenic but largely undeveloped. Making a home in these areas might be a great choice. Alternatively, you can find a piece of currently empty wilderness and build it into your own settlement bit by bit—it is recommended to use the online map to find uninhabited land and ensure you do not violate the "Three-Chunk Rule."
• Witness wonders in The End. Enter the Nether portal at (0, -300), then pass through the End Portal to reach The End. The scenery there will exceed your imagination.
• If you find yourself needing materials during gameplay but are unsure how to obtain them and the All-Items Storage is out of stock, consult the 二周目工业设施导引 and make good use of your browser's Find function. If you still can't find what you need, use the Group Query function.

Exploring the Server

You might want to explore the server further. If so, you can ask other members for a guided tour. This usually takes about 2 hours and provides a brief introduction to the server's iconic landmarks, helping you get acquainted quickly. Afterward, you can consult the documentation to visit places of interest at your leisure or enjoy the natural scenery in undeveloped regions.

Death and Respawning

If you die by falling into the void, your items will be permanently lost, as the server's keepInventory gamerule is set to false. However, if you are killed by mobs, die from fall damage, or experience kinetic energy, reaching out to other members in the server or the group for assistance might help you recover your losses...

View the Dynamic Map

Main server has a dynamic map which display the real-time positions of the online players, current server time and terrian & landform of the server. Good boys^[sic] have marked the positions of the machines, settlements and metro stations. Additionally you can send messages to the server via the dynamic map. Making good use of it can keep you away from getting lost and help you get familiar with the server.
